Failed 2 Weeks of Treasure Hunting in Thailand: Leaked CTX3030(again) and other disappointments

Hi all,

Had a last minute discussion to join another treasure hunter for 2 weeks of detecting.
Research of locations was pointing that there is a constant traffic of tourists all year long with good target replenishment even if hunted by locals.

Our trip contained 3 main areas :

A: Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort Nong Thale Krabi Thailand
B: Le Meridien Khao Lak Beach & Spa Resort, Takua Pa District, Phang-nga, Thailand
C: Le Meridien Phuket Beach Resort, 29 Soi Karon Nui, Tambon Karon,Amphur Muang, Phuket, Thailand

On top of that we planned to go around to different hotels (there are dozens of hetels stretching on the coastal line)

Please Enjoy a Video i've made about my Adventure :

Hope the next one will be better

Another 2 weeks of detecting: hitting 50 rings for the year.

Hi all and welcome back to my Blog :-)

End of summer here in NZ, beaches are almost empty and only surfers are in the water .
Mos tof my beach hunt end with only couple of coins nowadays :-( I've checked my gold count and it is exactly half of what i had last year at the same time.

Anyway, Last week one of the beach outings produced junk ring # 49 for the year :

Then last Wednesday i had most successful dry sand hunt for coins this year : 25$ (usually if i get about 10$ -i am happy)
Also got my ring #50  :

Thursday was a day off for Dle and I,so we visited One of the beast West coast beaches : Piha.
We wanted to check if our PI machines would work there and also visit famous Waterfall  :

Waterfall was cold. very cold, no no.. it wasn't just freezing !! couldn't more than 5 minutes in with my 3mm wet suit. we found some coins there ,sunglasses and watch, but no rings .

Thanks for stopping by! happy hunting all

Two Weeks of Detecting: Final Trip To Rarotonga & Local (NZ) Treasures

Good Day all,

So 2 weeks ago i ad my 7th trip To Rarotonga that i am considering last treasure hunting trip there for the next 2 years. The reason is we cleaned main areas very well that Dale, who detected every day, found only about 200 coins and most of them ferrous (current 10,20 and 50 cents)
So i treated the trip more as a Relaxing Holiday this time and didnt spend much time detecting at all, so my results were pretty poor :

I got only 2 silver rings. Coins are split into 2 piles :
* left are non ferrous
* right are ferrous

And if you search my blog for "Rarotonga" and check reports from previous trips, where i was getting up to 500 non ferrous coins in a week time.

Anyway, it was another amazing trip to the island, here are couple of Photos to Enjoy :

After coming back to Auckland I was 6 rings behind from Dale (he got 3 gold at Raro). So my Goal was to catch up a bit.
Two days at local beaches on Tuesday and Wednesday yielded only 7$ after 8 hours of detecting, while Dale got another 2 Gold in the same Time.. GRrrr ...

However i did find 2 squished  Silver rings on the road on my way to the beach and a run over cross .

Saturday: Trip to Waiheke Island

With a very nice weather my friends and i decided to go on a day break to the island. While others were enjoying a sun and calm beach, i went for  couple of hours detecting.
My results were pretty pleasant :
* two 9ct rings + a junker gold plated
* dead watch and some other bits and bobs

Sunday  i spent 5 hours at the local beach, where all i found was a junk earring and 8$ :-(
However on my back home i found a Stainless steel ring :-)

Here are all the treasures from the last 2 weeks :

These 2 weeks bring me to following treasure totals for the year :

Hope you enjoyed the Photos , happy hunting all !

Catch Up game with Dale & Urban Gold detecting

Heya all,

As i had 3 PM shift last week, missed all the afternooon tides except one day of detecting on Sunday and Failed recovery on Saturday

Saturday :
Got a call from Dianne, who lost her watch on the beach, spent about an hour in the exact given area, but nothing was found. I believe it was picked up by passers by as watch dropped fro towel :-( and sand ws pretty hard on the beach.
Even that recovery failed, Dianne was very thankful for me coming out.
While searching for the watch i found 9$ and junk pendant on the same beach.

But lets start off Sunday morning when i went on Urban Detecting walk in City center.
Its not a secret that after Saturday night in town, a lot of things are lost on streets, Coins, banknotes, cellphones etc. Most of those items are picked up by cleaners in early hour but tiny stuff like Chains, earrings and other stuff can be missed, Run over by a car and trampled down into concrete or tar  that is used ont he roads.

So my best find for Sunday morning was this nice 2.43 Gram 10 CT gold ring:

That got me to 10th Gold ring for the year against Dale's 13 (he spent every singe day last week detecting and went ahead of me from 9-9 when we finished the week before)

Please with gold ring, i've decided to get out to the beach and try to score some more.
Glad i Did!

I went o a Local city beach and spent about 2 hours in a wet send, scoring myself 15$ and another 3 rings:

* the best is Indian 18/22 ct Ring with either Sapphire or Citrine
* Silver ring and the Junk Toe Ring

Here is a close up of Best find for the week:

So totals after last week are :  *2014*Rings PlT/PD=0 GOLD=11 STG=12 Junk=17

Happy Hunting All!

Birthday weekend Ties my Up 9 Vs 9 gold with Dale

Decided to take advantage of calm ocean and hit water hard on my Birthday (Thanks Mom)

Saturday :
Olga and i went to Waiheke island where i spent 3 hours in the water and almost twisted my wrist working in rocks :-( but my effort was paid off by a very nice haul of finds.

Check this Video Out :

And here is a close up of the best find for the day :

Sunday :
As i was already 8-9 with Dale , loosing only one position- it was very important to score another one.
Dale & Me went to a local city beach and had go in a very calm water.

Results? 9-9 :-) a very nice 18 ct female band :

Best of the weekend:

Unfortunately i shattered the junk ring with my scoop when retrieving from rocks, oh well.

Have fun!

Excalibur 2 10 Inch coil cover found :-)

Today i had a quick walk at Mission bay and when i was at water edge - saw a coil cover floating in the surf :-)

I know YOU guys lurking on my blog, but never post or txt or call me,

Now you have to :-) ,so whoever lost it there, please call me 0272766257 and i can return to you so you do not damage your coil and no need to buy new one.

By the way - use a simple cable tire strap to prevent the loss of coil cover in the water.
