Good Day Everyone.
Today was an incredible day for Metal Detecting with nice weather , good company and outstanding finds!
Treasure Seeker and i went on a 100 km round trip today including some parks and a beach that started at 6 am today.
As we were scouting a lot of new places, i can not tell you areas we visited as we are planning to come back :-), Sorry guys.
Anyway. here is an incredible story of our day:
The first stop was at a park that was build over old school field, so we expected to have a lot of old targets, but upon arrival and scanning the area we realized that old ground was stripped and new soil put over as we had no old targets what so ever, but within first 15 minutes i found the following silver ring that i do really like :
At that point i said that even if i find nothing else, i am still happy with a trip. We spent about an hour at the park pulling "goldies" but left to follow initial plan of trying to break the "Curse". To those who do not know : Treasure Seeker wasunable to Find Half Crown and i was missing Florin and half crown. So i said that as far as i got my silver ring we need to go and find that half a crown! Treasure Seeker laughed at my optimism and we were on our way to the next spot.
Next stop was some random small, like really small park with playground and a bench, nothing else.
We scanned playground pulling couple of bucks each and decided to check couple of trees around, i just start walking towards trees, while Treasure Seeker was scanning the ground.....
....10 steps behind be i hear : "YES YES!!!!yes!!!!!" i turned around and could see a big smile...
... Yes it was a Half Crown pulled from an unexpected place - the 2 meters of grass between bench and playground. It was very shallow as well!
We spent about half an hour at the park and didnt find any other silvers. However i did find couple artifacts : the biggest lead weight i ever found (in the park?!) and thought to be silver pen made in England. but turned out to be just steel.
Now Treasure Seeker being in a good believing mood said that we need to go and find a Florin for me :-)
So we went to our next place ... and what you think ??
.... Now it was me shouting : "YES YES!!!!yes!!!!!" just minutes in our hunt .
I did pull that Florin ! :
There were other cool finds from the spot like 1882 Half Penny, USMC Button and Vintage Car Club of NZ badge :
We did pull pennies and some $$ from the spot, but there were no rings and to full fill the quest of the day- ring for everyone, we headed to the beach.
We didnt find much at the beach to be honest, but we did complete the quest and got a silver ring each !
Mine was another CTR ring , this time a tiny one :
Here are all my keepers for the day :
Not going to name everything you see as main things are described above. But the only other note is about those 3 blobs of something above copper plate - those do have gold color and i was joking that i found Gold NUGGETS! :-) most likely they are brass. but will see once clean them up properly and test.
I want to say is a HUGE thank you to Treasure Seeker for a fantastic day. (do not forget to check his blog for todays finds)
And the last thing to say is : Do your research, team up with other people and have fun guys!
Next update is the big video of all my finds for the last 6 month!

Excalibur Trip #11 , Cheltenham, Pull tab Personal Record
Good Evening Everyone,
Treasure Seeker and I went on a dual hunt to our favorite beach - Cheltenham.
As it is way over the end of beach season and there were no storms- we didnt expect much.
So i got two 1$ coins, then i got a spoon -the really interesting tendency is that once i find any cutlery i usually find a ring after that, so i told Treasure Seeker that i should find a ring anytime after the spoon! And what do you think? 15 minutes later a tiny Silver Ring :
But the best Find of the day is actually awesome Toy Bulldozer . Also beating personal Record of max Pull Tabs in a hunt - 44 ! it is just a pity that there were no gold ring in those 44 targets :-( :
That is a full Truck Load of Pull tabs :-))
Tomorrow i will be going to either Takapuna or Mission bay for water hunting, if anyone would like to make me company - txt or call me :-)
See ya all at the beach and happy Hunting .

Excalibur Trips #8#9 and Gold Bug Park Hunt
Hi All,
Not that Many finds over the last 2 weekends, so will summarize here:
So Trip #8 was last Sunday at Takapuna during the lowest tide 0.2 .
I wasn't trying to hunt but tried to locate the end of the sand beach and the starts of clay bottom.
The result was 2$ coin , Smoking pipe and the part from old Photo camera.
Based on the marking Wollesak Opt.CO and the "pat feb 6 1900" it is a part of
(1900) Rochester Century Box

Then On a Trip #9 with Chris we went to Takapuna at the low tide again and i finally located the Clay Bottom, but it was already dark and i didnt really want to be chest deep in the water in Pitch black :-(
My findings from the trip are in the middle column on the picture above.
And here is a close up of the ring (no marking on it- so i think it is brass) :
And Final trip with my Gold Bug was to one of Milford Parks where i found nice pocket knife that i tried to restore, but without hope, 1 Penny 1960 and 6$ - all that in just under 1 hour.
Thanks for stopping by and Have Fun!

Excalibur Trips#4/5/6
Hi All,
Trip#4 was the day before yesterday to Kohimarama and yelled absolutely nothing :-(
Trip#5 was a scouting trip to one of the remote shore parks where we had a BBQ:
- 1967 2 cent piece
- Maybe a Silver "Nike" Ring :
Trip#6 , Takapuna today, 3 hour hunt :
- 15 Gram 925 Silver Bracelet
- 9$ in coins
-Stainless steel Men Ring
-Stainless steel Pendant with "Our Father " prayer in Spanish :
Padre Nuestro que estás en el Cielo,
Santificado sea tu nombre,
venga a nosotros tu Reino.
It is called "El Padre Nuestro" in Spanish
------------------------------------------------------
- Silver earring
- Also 2 pet tags, The big one has name "Sparky"- i actually found it second time. Initially i got it on my trip#2 but lost on the beach, so today i found it again :-)
But main find for me is the location of 2 "Honey Holes" , however they were about waist deep. I tried them quickly and could hear a lot of targets, but could not really stay there as it was windy and waves were smashing up to my shoulders. I will buy Wet Suit tomorrow and go after all those heavy items :-)
Stay Tuned for the next update!

Mission bay: Excalibur Trip#3, GOLD #6 for the year
It was a warm, sunny afternoon at Mission bay.
The good thing - i met another metal detectorist- Pam, She is a member of Te Tahi Detector Club. We had a little chat and shared couple of stories:-) - she has been detecting over 5 years now.Really lovely Lady.
So with a low tide started the "washing machine" - area were waves brake between settlement area and the shore. within minutes i found 2$ and ...an awesome condition 1936 half Rupee India :
i arrived 2 hours before low tide and tried to do "washing board" without any success, after 1 hour got only 1$.

So with a low tide started the "washing machine" - area were waves brake between settlement area and the shore. within minutes i found 2$ and ...an awesome condition 1936 half Rupee India :
Then i found a crap necklace(really wanted it to be silver, but no) and in about 30 minutes got....
2.4 gram 9CT 3 diamond ring :
And here i would like to stop for a second and tell you something. I decided to collect all Pull tabs i get between gold rings. and here is only a fraction of pull tabs collected, probably 10 days 151 pulltabs (all those kilos of other rubbish is usually discarded right at the beach bins ). So if to take into consideration that last gold was over 1 month ago, triple the amount i had to dig to get to the gold ring:
Now i reset the count till next gold ring. This post is for those who sometimes say:"Oh it is not fair someone lost a ring, you need to give it to police/newspaper/radio..." - all that crap. I spent hours trying to find those rings, My equipment has quite a high cost that i need to earn back. And also i clean the areas. So please, if you see that one of the rings belongs to you or someone you know- Be generous with a reward :-) And remember - if you claimed insurance, you are no longer the owner and it is illegal to double dip :-P ....
...After i finished "washing machine" i started the settlement are and found a Silver Fish, crap Ring, A belly piercing-they usually gold or at least silver, rarely stainless. But this one is crap one (that girl is stupid- Ferrous item should not be inserted) Also a small plated Bird.
And final find for the day- pretty good condition Sun Glasses! ya baby :-)
Thanks for stopping by and see you later :-)
